With our transition to Epic MyChart on November 10, 2024, we want to make sure you have all the information you need to navigate the change smoothly. Below, you'll find answers to common questions about what this means for you, how to sign up, and some helpful tutorials to get started.

FAQs about OMC's Switch to Epic MyChart
Why is OMC switching to Epic MyChart?
We’re moving to Epic MyChart to provide our patients with a more seamless, user-friendly portal for managing healthcare.
Epic MyChart offers features like secure messaging with providers, access to lab results, billing management, and online scheduling, which will roll out over the coming months.
As we prepare to launch Epic MyChart on November 10, 2024, we want to remind all current patients to download any important medical records or lab results from the current portal before the switch. After November 10, the current patient portal will be permanently shut down, and you will no longer have access to your old records online. Downloading your records now will save you time and ensure you have everything you need. For step-by-step instructions on how to download your records, check out our detailed guide here.
What will happen to the current patient portal?
Our current patient portal (Athena) will be permanently shut down on November 10, 2024, the same day we launch Epic MyChart. After that date, all access to your previous portal will be disabled, so please make sure to download any important medical records or documents before that date, as they will not transfer to MyChart. But all medical history will still be stored at OMC and can be accessed by calling the medical records office.
Will my past medical records transfer to MyChart?
No, past medical records will not be transferred to MyChart. If you need access to medical records from before November 10, 2024, please note that the old patient portal has been permanently shut down. To request records, you will need to submit a Medical Records Release Request Form. Please be aware that processing these requests may take 2-4 weeks. You can find the form and instructions on our Medical Records page here.
How do I sign up for MyChart?
The easiest method for signing up for MyChart is by having a link sent to you from Osceola Medical Center. A sign-up link will be sent either before, during or after a visit/appointment or, you may call 715-294-2111 and follow the phone prompt for MyChart assistance to request a link be sent.Â
Another method would be to go to www.MyChart.org and select "Access MyChart". You will be asked to answer some questions. Please note that this method is not guaranteed to work as all information must match exactly as it is our system for an account to be set up,
FAQs about MyChart Features
Using MyChart: Key Features
In this video, you'll get an overview of MyChart's most essential features, such as viewing your health records, lab results, and appointment details. It also explains how to message your provider, manage billing, and stay on top of your healthcare from one convenient platform.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
On the MyChart login screen, click the Forgot Username? or Forgot Password? link for help. If you forgot both your username and password, start with the username first. You will be prompted to answer some security questions to verify your identity so you can recover your username or password.
What do I need to access MyChart?
You need access to a computer or mobile device connected to the Internet and an up-to-date browser (such as Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari). You can also use the MyChart mobile app on a mobile device.
How do I schedule an appointment in MyChart?
Over the coming months, you'll be able to use MyChart to schedule, view, and manage appointments. This feature may not be available right at launch but will be rolled out in phases.
Can I link my MyChart accounts if I visit multiple healthcare providers?
Yes, you can link your MyChart accounts using the Happy Together feature, which allows you to see all your medical information from different organizations in one place. Just go to the Link My Accounts page in MyChart to get started.
Can I view a family member’s medical records in MyChart?
Yes, MyChart proxy access allows you to view and manage a family member’s medical records with their permission. Proxy access is available for parents, caregivers, or anyone who has been granted access.
How is MyChart secure?
Your healthcare providers take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal usernames, and passwords. Each person controls their password, and the account must be accessed using that password. On the MyChart mobile app, you can also log in using face ID or fingerprint login. Unlike conventional email, all MyChart messaging is done while you are securely logged in to the website or mobile app.
You can ensure that your account stays secure even if someone else has your username or password by turning on two-step verification. When this feature is turned on, you must enter a code that is sent to you by email or text message to log in to MyChart, in addition to using your username and password.
You might receive email or text notifications that contain links to MyChart. These notifications allow you to log in to MyChart securely using a link that expires after a short time. Keeping your MyChart account secure means keeping your phone number and email account secure. If you think that your phone number or email account might be compromised, you can change the phone number or email account on file on the Personal Information page in MyChart.
How can I share my health records with a provider?
You can securely share your health records with other healthcare providers using the Share Everywhere feature in MyChart. This allows your provider to see your medical history, medications, and other critical information to give you the best possible care.
What should I do if I notice incorrect information in MyChart?
Your MyChart information comes directly from your provider’s medical records starting from November 10, 2024. Any medical records or information prior to that date will not appear in MyChart, but don’t worry—we still have your full medical history on file.
If you need access to your past records or notice incorrect information, you can contact our Medical Records Department for assistance. For current records, ask your provider to correct any inaccuracies at your next visit.
What can my provider see?
Your healthcare provider has access to your full medical record so they can provide the best care for you. If you're seen at multiple organizations, your provider might be able to see information from your record at another organization if both organizations participate in Care Everywhere. MyChart is a window that shows you what is in your medical record and your MyChart information comes directly from your electronic medical record at your provider's office.
How can I securely message my provider through MyChart?
MyChart allows you to securely send messages to your healthcare providers for non-urgent questions, prescription refills, and follow-up care. Simply log in to MyChart, navigate to the Messages section, and choose the option to send a new message. Your healthcare team will typically respond within 1-3 business days.
