At Osceola Medical Center (OMC), we are committed to addressing the mental health and addiction needs of our community. To achieve this goal, we have relied on the expertise of Dr. David Frenz, MD, who has been a pivotal figure in designing our Integrated Behavioral Health and Mental Health and Addiction Services Program. With over a year at OMC and a wealth of experience in other hospitals, Dr. Frenz has now transitioned from behind the scenes to seeing patients directly.
A Proven Leader in Mental Health and Addiction Services
Dr. Frenz's journey with OMC began over a year ago when our CEO recognized the urgent need to enhance mental health services in our area. With a background in successfully designing similar programs at other hospitals, Dr. Frenz was the ideal candidate to lead this initiative. His expertise in family medicine and addiction medicine has been instrumental in developing a comprehensive program that addresses the diverse needs of our community.
Designing a Comprehensive Program
Tasked with addressing the shortage of mental health services, Dr. Frenz worked tirelessly to develop a program that ensures high-quality care for our patients. His patient-centered, collaborative approach has been the foundation of this initiative. Dr. Frenz believes in understanding each patient's unique symptoms, life experiences, goals, values, and preferences to create personalized treatment plans that promote long-term wellness.
Leading as Chief Medical Officer
In addition to his role in program design, Dr. Frenz has been serving as OMC’s Chief Medical Officer. In this capacity, he oversees the quality and delivery of all medical services at our center. His leadership has been crucial in maintaining the high standards of care that our patients have come to expect.
Transitioning to Patient Care
We are excited to announce that Dr. Frenz is now transitioning from his behind-the-scenes role to seeing patients directly. He is now accepting patients for mental health and addiction services. Dr. Frenz’s dual certification in family medicine and addiction medicine positions him uniquely to provide comprehensive, integrated care to those in need.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Frenz’s philosophy of care is deeply patient-centered and collaborative. "Every patient is unique. I listen carefully to understand their symptoms, life experiences, goals, values, and preferences, and then we develop a treatment plan together that helps them live their best life." This approach ensures that patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their health journey.
Personal Touch
When not at OMC, Dr. Frenz enjoys reading and spending quality time with his family. He and his wife, Joan, have been married since 2001 and have three sons and a dog named Lacy. Early in his career, Dr. Frenz was an expert on ragweed pollen, the allergen that causes many seasonal allergies.
