Philosophy of Care: I believe the best healthcare starts with a relationship. My goal is to understand where patients are in their health journey and meet them there—working together to make decisions that reflect their values, goals, and circumstances while being guided by the best available medical evidence. I enjoy caring for patients of all ages and helping them stay healthy through preventive care, while also being there to guide them through illness and life's challenges. I want every patient to feel heard, respected, and comfortable knowing they have a physician who will listen, provide thoughtful, evidence-based care, and be their partner in health.
What drew you to work at Scandia Clinic? What drew me to Scandia Clinic was the opportunity to return to community-based medicine. I grew up in a small town on the White Earth Reservation, and early in my career I practiced in a critical access hospital system in Crosby, Minnesota. Those experiences taught me that healthcare is about more than treating illness—it's about building relationships, earning trust, and being part of a community.I believe community hospitals and clinics create relationships, and relationships lead to better care. In a community health system, patients know their healthcare team, and the healthcare team knows their patients. That continuity fosters trust, encourages partnership, and allows care to be personalized for each individual. I'm excited to be part of a health system where those relationships are valued and where I can serve the community in a meaningful way.
What do you like to do when you’re not at OMC? Being with my family and making memories is how I recharge. When I'm not at the Scandia Clinic, you'll most likely find me with my husband, two daughters and two dogs boating on the St. Croix River, traveling, discovering great restaurants, or cheering from the sidelines at soccer, T-ball, and swim lessons. I also enjoy attending Broadway shows at the Orpheum Theatre and spending time landscaping while losing the uphill battle with the weeds in our yard.
Fun Facts: I modeled for the sculpture in the atrium at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth campus, so I'll always have a place there. I've met both Kelly Clarkson (my favorite performer) and Robin Roberts by chance—two celebrity encounters I'll never forget!
