We say this every day: Early detection saves lives!

One of our greatest joys at OMC is providing preventive  screenings—it's one of the best ways we can proactively take of our community (which is our #1 goal).

Thanks to the latest advances in medical technology, there is new hope for patients at risk for cancer. OMC offers free screenings for anyone who meets risk factor criteria—see the list below to see if you qualify!

Important Note: Preventive health care services are free when you have insurance. OMC provides these services to those without health insurance at a discounted cost. Call 715-294-2111 (ext. 4, press 1) for more information.

AAA Screening

Men between 65-75 who are current or former smokers are at greater risk for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA). Assess your risk with a quick (and painless!) ultrasound screening. Then you can discuss next steps with your primary care clinician.

TO SCHEDULE | One-Time Screening:

Breast Cancer Screening

Starting at age 40, women should be getting mammograms every 1–2 years until they’re 75. Talk with your clinician to decide the interval that is right for you.

TO SCHEDULE | Mammogram:

Cervical Cancer

Schedule your first pap smear at 21 and continue every other year until you’re 65.

Colon Cancer

Starting at age 45, everyone should prioritize getting a baseline colonoscopy. After reviewing your results, our clinician will let you know when to get your next screening—if your scope is clean, the average time between colonoscopies is 10 years.

TO SCHEDULE | Colonoscopy:

Lung Cancer

Guidelines recommend annual screening for lung cancer for adults aged 50 to 80 years who have smoked a pack (approximately 20 cigarettes) per day for 20 years, or an equivalent amount over a different period of time (e.g., two packs/day for 10 years). If you’ve been a non-smoker for at least 15 years, you no longer need to be screened for lung cancer.

TO SCHEDULE | Low Dose CT:

Prostate Cancer

If you are between 55-69, you might benefit from prostate cancer screening. Talk to your primary care clinician about whether you might be one of them!

Since we first opened our doors in 1932, OMC’s mission has remained the same: to inspire and improve the health and well-being of our community by combining quality "big city" healthcare with home-town customer service.
